Does this con usually have deals for rooms at the hotel?

Yes, there is usually a special rate on hotel rooms if you call the State College Days Inn directly and ask for the Setsucon rate. It's only available until all of the blocked rooms have sold out though.

Thats great that you can get the rooms at such a low price like that. I do have a question though, can you only get the discount by calling and asking or can you also get it online? if not it doesn't matter I'm just curious.

I'm really glad I found this. I REALLY hope there's still space in the block. ;_;

EDIT: I just called, and he told me they didn't have anything under the SETSUCON name--but when I said it mentioned it may be under the Penn State Anime club he was able to give me it without a problem. So you may want to look into that.

CRAP! for some reason they told me the block was sold out when i booked a room. I will check again to see if it is possible to change the price.

This would have been great to know before I booked a hotel room. I booked ages ago, because I was really looking forward to this con. You need to put that kind of information where people will see it. Like maybe on the "Location" page of the website? It's extremely aggravating to know that I could have had my room a lot cheaper, if only the information had been readily available.

Sorry about all the hotel room confusion. I called the hotel and spoke with someone and here are the details, I have also mirrored this information on the website.

The Setsucon room rate is $70 per night for Friday and Saturday night, and $79 per night for Thursday and Sunday nights. The easiest way to get the rate is call the hotel directly and mention "Anime Convention". Some staff will recognize Setsucon as well, but they are most familiar with the keyword "Anime". If you have already booked under another rate, you should be able to get the rate updated to the discounted block rate by calling the hotel and speaking to reservations.

Once again, I'm really sorry for all this confusion about the room bookings, and hope this will be able to get everyone settled on the right track. The reservation staff were very helpful to me, so I hope everything goes smoothly for everyone.

Just wanted to let people know - I made my reservation today for 1 room for Saturday only. They initially told me that the block was full, but when I said I only needed Sat. they were able to squeeze me into the block - Soooo I would say there are probably almost no rooms left it any. Regular room rate appears to be about $109 before tax.
Check NOW if you are hoping to get a room for the special rate.
